Sufi dervishes perform a meditative dance by repeatedly twirling on their feet. This is a symbolic imitation of planets in the solar system orbiting the sun.

The greatest Persian poet Rumi, whose poetry transcended cultures, religions and languages, began this meditative twirling with poetry and dance.
