The traditional placement of these lanterns used to be near the water, and a three-legged lantern like this, would have two legs in the water, and one on land. The umbrella is a wide large round, while the fire box is smaller with multiple small windows. Yukimi denotes water reflection traditionally they were referred to as “snow viewing” lanterns- as snow would build on their broad rim top during a wintery event.
